Plugging In
The first thing I discovered is that the Line6 PODxt Pro Guitar Amp Modeling Processor is not designed to be used with a combo amplifier. It is built to serve as a replacement for the preamp, and I had to plug it directly into my power amp.
I started at the best place to start with any new piece of equipment - the preset options. This gave me a chance to familiarize myself with the processor, and once I got the hang of it, I could then start developing my own ideas by adjusting the settings as I saw fit.
Sound

I found myself pressed for time when I tried this processor, but given the opportunity to work with it more, I think that I could learn how to use the deep editing function and really customize my sound.
It has built in effects with unlimited options for sound customizations. There are 60 models in all that cover every tone imaginable, such as reverse delay, vibratone, and a large selection of reverb effects. There is a flexible routing option, which allows you to run up to 6 models at the same time!
I found the possibilities intimidating at first, but as I tried each one individually, I began to develop ideas about what things might work well together. It would only be a matter of spending time experimenting with each effect, then expanding to combinations.
Simplicity
Probably the most convenient aspect of this piece of equipment is the built-in chromatic tuner. With the touch of one button, I was able to check my tuning and make adjustments quickly, saving me time and energy. The tuner can be operated by a foot control, and also offers features like audio mute and bypass.
Getting Technical
When I get ready to create new music, or make modifications to the classics, I find that the more options I have, the more creativity pours out of my instrument. I do not look for functions to fit just one song; I want options that will provide me with an outlet for inspiration.
The Line6 PODxt Pro Guitar Amp Modeling Processor features 42 amp models, ranging from rare vintages to modern, plus an additional 24 speaker cabinet models. It is possible to combine the amp of your choice with the cabinet of your choice, again, multiplying creative possibilities. In addition, there are also four different microphone models.
Overwhelming? Yes, to say in the least. However, the existence of all these possibilities in one piece of equipment will surely allow any guitarist to enjoy a life time of fresh, new elements in their music.
The only problem I experienced with this processor was that the display screen is quite small. When I stand up to play, it was difficult for me to see the screen so far away. However, I’m sure once I was more comfortable with the controls and options, this would not be as big of an obstacle.
